A feasibility study of Stratford Town Centre

October-December 2013
Project Description:

The Stratford Renaissance Partnership wanted to explore the possibility of establishing a BID in Stratford, testing the reactions of businesses in the area toward the concept

Consequently, The means were commissioned by SRP to complete a Phase One feasibility study to:

  • Understand business health, measuring levels of optimism and business turnover
  • Recognise business issues
  • Identify agreed ways to improve trading conditions
  • Explain the concept of a BID and understand whether businesses have an appetite for this model  in Stratford town centre

As part of Phase one, The means conducted ninety six face to face questionnaires which asked a range of quantitative and qualitative questions. Following the survey they were invited to a Visioning Event where the concept of a BID was described in greater detail and the results of the feasibility study tested.  Additionally, in theme groups, attendees were asked to discuss potential BID priorities.

Key research outcomes included:

  • Gaining an understanding of business health
  • Recognising key issues for businesses and teh best methods to improve them
  • Identifing themes for a BID programme
  • Uncovering the level of support for a potential BID
