The means: to change places for the better.
The means: to change places for the better.
The Means were commissioned in April 2014 by RCTCBC to establish a BID in Pontypridd Town Centre. This was a consequence of funding made available by the Welsh Government to establish 10 BIDs in Town Centres across Wales.
The first phase involved a feasibility study to scope out the key issues and explore whether businesses would support a BID in principle. Following a positive response, Pontypridd is in its campaign stage, with a ballot date scheduled for Thursday 25th February. If successful, the BID will generate £375,000 over the next 5 years to be spent on the following projects & priorities:
1. Welcome: Accessibility & Experience
· £1 all day Saturday parking in Berw Road & Sardis Road
· Free drop off and pick up in the town centre before 11am
· Offers & links with public transport providers
· Integrate the park & the town centre
· Greening projects
· Action with landlords & agents to reduce the number of empty shops
2. Promotion: Entertain & Reward
· Entertaining programme of regular events
· Town Centre promotion campaigns
· Loyalty card scheme
· Marketing to potential investors
· Developing University links & attracting students
3. Business: Savings & Support
· Reducing business costs through collective purchasing
· Knowledge sharing through seminars and networking opportunities
· Attracting match funding from a variety of sources
