The Means has been engaged by the Camberwell Area Management Team to scope an area travel
plan for Camberwell. The work will
involve detailed consultation with Southwark and Lambeth Councils, the two large NHS hospitals in the area,
representatives of the local community and local traders.
The outcome will be a defined structure for then plan, together with an
agreement on the process for defining objectives and linkages with other travel
initiatives, including the hospitals own travel plans.
Located on the borders of Lambeth and Southwark,
Camberwell has a number of transport challenges. Large volumes of through traffic and
relatively poor rail and underground links make it difficult for commuters and residents
alike to embrace smarter travel options.
The Means' Sophie Tyler commented: 'I worked in Camberwell for Southwark Council as part of the Optimum 2 project. It has a set of transport issues distinctive to many inner-London secondary town centres, and I am very much looking forward to working with the Area Management Team to address them.'
