Client:

Maggie Durran Consulting & Churches Conservation Trust

Assignment:

To prepare an Audience Development & Access Plan

Timescale:

Six months from November 2007

Project Description:

All Souls was one of several fine churches built by the mill-owning Greenhalgh brothers in north Bolton. Redundant for many years, the grade 2* listed building is now owned by the Churches Conservation Trust. Working with a group of community activists, the CCT is seeking to turn the building into a heritage attraction and multi-purpose community centre. The Means produced the audience development & access plan for All Souls - a crucial ingredient in any major funding bid. This was a demanding brief given the considerable scope of the uses planned for the new facility. The resulting plan drew substantially on the results of considerable consultation with key stakeholders in the town, and research into competing and complementary buildings in the vicinity.
